Review: Delta Shelby Crib and Changer Expresso
The classic style Shelby 4-in-1 crib and changer in espresso can be turned into a toddler bed, day bed, and full sized bed. The headboard is not only functional, but adds style as well. The changing table can be detached from the crib and features a cabinet with a shelf, a top cubby, and three open face shelves for convenience. When detached, the changer can serve as a nightstand when the child outgrows it. This Shelby 4-in-1 crib is constructed out of solid hardwood and the mattress can be adjusted to three different levels.
Pros
- Sturdy
- Functional
- Increased Storage
- Value
Overall, this is a nice looking crib. When you consider that a changing table and pull out hamper is included, this is a pretty good deal for under $300. The changing table and hamper provide additional storage space. If this is important to you, then this is a nice option to go with.
Cons
- Assembly
- Hamper is flimsy
Some customers claimed that they had a difficult time with the assembly. The parts weren’t always labeled, and some of the pieces didn’t align correctly. There is also a lot of parts to put together, so the assembly process could take some time. Also, the changing table can only attach to the right side of the crib, which could effect how you arrange your room. The furniture isn’t the highest quality you will find, but it does the job.

This isn’t the greatest of cribs as far as sturdiness and quality are concerned. however, the price is right. the changing table, hamper and shelves are kinda flimsy. The front rail itself is thin. If i had seen seen/felt it assembled beforehand, my guess is that i would have chosen one that was more sturdy. But this was almost half the price of the ones i actually saw assembled in stores. I was not expecting top notch craftsmanship. – Wendy Knight
I am not an expert at cribs, this is our first one, but this crib has easy directions to put together, however, it is not as solid as I would like. It looks great and does its job, but the changing station part is basically pieces of plywood with a coating over it that are screwed together. I thought or hoped it would be more solid wood, but I guess for the price I shouldn’t be surprised! – Leanne Thornton (Thornton, CO)
The right side of the changing table was damaged during transit, however I spoke with customer service at Delta and they are replacing it free of charge. My personal experience with Delta, so far, has been great. The representative was very pleasant. As far as putting the crib itself together, it took my husband and I about an hour and a half to finish the entire thing. Personally, again, I thought it was just as easy as anything else I’ve put together myself. Overall, it seems good and sturdy where it needs to be (i.e. not the hamper or trundle, those won’t bear any weight anyway), and it looks really great in the nursery! – Katie Dodson
